Dresden man killed in alcohol related crash |
Excessive speed and
alcohol were contributing factors in a single-vehicle
accident that claimed the life of a Dresden man last week when his car spun out of control and
crashed into a tree in a residential area of Dresden.
The
driver of the vehicle involved in the fatal automobile
accident was identified as Bradley Odgen, 27, of 115 Locust
Street in Dresden.
According to Dresden Police, at approximately 11:18 p.m.
last Wednesday, officers were dispatched to 344 Linden
Street, following a 911 call reporting a traffic crash with
injuries at that location. Dresden Assistant Police Chief
Brent Perry and Investigator Clay Anderson arrived on the
scene within two minutes. Upon arrival, the officers found a
2003 Dodge Neon sedan in the front yard of the residence.
The vehicle had sustained extensive damage during the crash;
and the fatally injured driver of the vehicle was still
inside, but was not entrapped. It is the conclusion of the
investigation that the driver died instantly during the
first major impact of the crash.
The
Dresden Fire Department, Weakley County EMS and Weakley
County Rescue Squad also responded to the scene of the
accident. An inspection of the wreckage revealed that the
vehicle had ruptured and dislodged its gas tank during the
crash and was spilling fuel into the ground. Rescue
personnel and police searched the area extensively for other
victims that might have been ejected, but fortunately there
had been no passengers in the vehicle.

ordinance |
By David Fisher

Reporter
Member of the Dresden Board of
Mayor and Alderpersons approved the second reading of a rezoning
ordinance, during Monday night’s regular monthly meeting, which
will pave the way for industrial development of the site and
hopefully bring jobs to the area.
Rezoning Ordinance
After a Monday afternoon public
hearing on a rezoning ordinance, the Dresden board unanimously
approved the ordinance, which rezones certain property owned by
the Dresden Industrial Board from a B-3 (highway oriented
business) and R-1 (low density residential) to M-2 (heavy
industrial). The land affected by the measure is located on
Weakley County Tax Map 102, Parcel 76.00 consisting of 129
acres, including the right-of-way fronting this property to the
centerline of State Route 22 and Old State Route 22.
The site has been recommended by TML Associates as the
best location for a county spec
building currently in the planning stages by members of the Weakley County
Economic Development Board (WCEDB).
