Three injured in Dresden accident

By David Fisher

Staff Reporter

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon inside the city limits of Dresden.

According to Dresden Patrol Officer Brent Perry, who worked the accident, the crash took place at approximately 2:46 p.m.

Aaron T. Boone, 75, of 459 Pleasant Hill Road, Dresden, was traveling west on Highway 22 in a 1981 Ford F-150 pickup. As Boone was going under the traffic light at the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 54, his truck collided with a northbound Geo Tracker, driven by John Haddakin, 41, of 927 Shuff Road, Dresden. The vehicle is owned by Joe Haddakin of 910 Shuff Road in Dresden.

Boone told Officer Perry that the sun was in his eyes and he couldn’t tell if the light had changed at the time of the impact, but that it was green the last time he could see it through the glare.

Haddakin stated that his light was green, but was in the process of changing as he drove underneath it.

The front of Boone’s pickup struck the right rear section of Haddakin’s vehicle. The Geo spun around and then rolled over, coming to a halt in an upright position in the grass on the right (east) side of Highway 54, just north of the intersection.

Haddakin suffer a cut to the face, while his two juvenile passengers, 12 year-old Jessica Haddakin and Zackery Bailey, age 10, both of 927 Shuff Road in Dresden, received minor injuries and were transported by Weakley County EMS to Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin for evaluation and treatment.

There were two juvenile passengers in Boone’s vehicle. They were Kailey Hayes, 13, and age 11, Karlyn Hayes both of 156 Laneview Concord Road, Trenton. None of those in the pickup were injured.

“Everybody was wearing their seatbelts,” Officer Perry said. “And I think that’s what prevented the children or anybody from having any serious injuries.”
